Feels Like a Mack Truck!

Well, as many of you know we were in a car accident on Wednesday. I was driving and my sister and both kids were in the car. We were on 5th west in Brigham right by the high school. I was on my way home to get changed into my scrubs for work. Then a 16 year old girl ran the stop sign going about 40 and t boned us. Thankfully no one (especially my babies) was seriously hurt, which I know was an act of God. However, they strapped everyone in my van down to backboards and took us the ER. The kids in the car were fine. My husband arrived later in his usual dramatic panic. I told the ER nurse that perhaps HE needed a shot of ativan...hmmm. Anyway, we are all really sore. I can't turn my head, lift my right arm, or take deep breaths without shooting pain, but I am a mom, so I will just continue on because Caroline's birthday party is tomorrow and I better get to work!

Our van looks pretty bad. We haven't gotten the exact estimate yet, but consdering that the entire front end is basically missing, the doors won't open, and there was lots of fluid at the scene, I am guessing it is totalled...and I sure hope so, I wouldn't want them to try and "repair" that mess, we would have problems for years down the road. Most of you know that I am quite an assertive person, so the insurance company won't be able to play games with me. :) I feel miserable and feel like we were hit by a Mack truck and not a Mazda!

True Confessions...I Don't Scrapbook

I have discovered, especially since moving back to Utah, that I have almost committed a crime to the nature of Utah femininity...I DON'T SCRAPBOOK!!! I am sure this response is followed by gasps of horror from many of you who are devoted to scrapbooking. Honestly, I just can't get into it. I am bad about even remembering to take pictures....let alone add some cute embellishment to them and cut them with adorable scissors. I seriously would PAY someone to do this for me, which is quite a confession from someone who coupons like it is a full-time job.

Now to me, grocery shopping is a game and now that I am better at playing by the rules....I am winning. I have overflowing stock-piles of everything from make-up and toliet paper to frozen veggies and canned tomatoes. I generally spend about $300 a month for a family of 4 plus one cat and a kiddo in diapers. And we eat a lot of organic food and LOTS of produce, so I could definitely cut back, but I don't. I also enjoy organic gardening and canning. I have shelves and shelves full of homemade/home canned items...everything from raspberry jam to relish and pickles to salsa and peaches. Maybe it is because I can see a benefit from this...? But, for the life of me I cannot bring myself to scrapbook. My friends talk about it like it is so much fun, but I just shudder. Once again, a strange confessions from someone who also does cross stitch ands sews..

I always claim I don't scrapbook because I don't have time. I work 2 jobs for goodness sake! My job at the health dept. is a lot of fun. I am one of the baby your baby and immunization nurses for BE county. Another confession is that I actually find flu clinics fun...is that sick and wrong!?! I was recently offered the job of nurse manager for a home health company in the area...and I didn't even apply for the job! I smiled at that one. No thanks, I need time for my number one job...wife and mom!

Couponing...my newest addiction

You should have seen the look on Ben's face last month when I told him we would now be getting not 1 but 5 Sunday papers. I think he thought I was crazy. I have always used coupons, but never realized that there was such a system to it! Now, a little over a month later, he thinks it is pure genius as he has watched the grocery budget drop $200 in a month and has seen my stockpile arsenal in all the closets. I think it is fun to basically be paid to use a product! Now, I won't "buy" shampoo, razors, toothpaste, or other tolietries unless I get them for free. Saturday is triple coupon day in Roy and you had better believe I will be there at 6 am ready for a deal! Today I picked up 7 packages of free organic sausage with my coupons. What took me so long!

The Rise of the Democrats...hmmm

Part 1.
Remember the election in 2006?
Thought you might like to read the following:
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him..

Quote of the Day........'My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it.' -- Barack Obama

Part 2:

Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.

www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html
Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K-tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K-tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K-tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K-tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75-tax $21,000 Married making 75K-tax $18,750
Married making 125K-tax$38,750 Married making 125K-tax 31,250

Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates
It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.

PART 3:
You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this:
Boy, am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS.

My Husband Doesn't Drink From the Toliet Bowl...

I was browsing online at some sites about getting more organized in your house, etc...many of them with the Proverbs 31 woman theme. After 15 minutes, I was starting to feel inadequate and just sat back. Then, something one of the women said struck me as slightly ridiculous. She said that she didn't have time for hobbies, reading, or watching tv, but that her house was always neat, clean, and organized. I thought about that and thought...what a BORING person!! What would she and her husband have to talk about!?! Your husband would rather have your time and attention ladies!!! I am not saying not to clean your house (you know me better then that),but remember...your husband doesn't drink from the toliet bowl...

His Mercies are New Every Morning

I am so thankful that this is true! Yes, we did officially miscarry but I can feel his loving arms around me and I am ready to turn the page and see what God has planned for us this year. I felt like my life was on hold for 6 weeks while I waited. It truly feel like we have reached a springtime chapter of new beginnings in our life.

More wait and see

Well, today I had my 3rd U/S. This time they sent me to the hospital to do a more in depth u/s because nothing is conclusive one way or the other. My u/s yesterday showed something in the sac and an umblical cord. Today we saw a small fetal pole, but no heartbeat. Either my dates are way off (which I can't imagine...I'm one of those fertility friend women!) or I just have to wait to naturally miscarry. My HCG (pregnancy hormone) numbers keep rising and my pg sx keep getting worse. I really just want to know one way or the other. I don't want to remain too hopeful, because then it just hurts worse.

Once again, we hope to get to close on our house this week. The appraisal came in less than our offer price, so we had to get the bank to accept a lower price because it was a foreclosure. It has been a mess! We were supposed ot have closed on the 18th. I really hope it happens soon, because between that mess and the pregnant/miscarry mess I am ready to commit myself!!

Letting Go

It has been a really rough week. I definitely don't feel like myself. I have no energy and have been struggling even to play with my kids. I find myself just wanting to sit on the couch. Kids are good at not allowing that, though...definitely can be a good thing. I know that sitting around wallowing and moaping will not change things for me (and probably will just result in gaining a few pounds which will only make me feel worse). I feel so depressed that my entire body even aches...

Ben and I found out that we were expecting again a few weeks back, which would make me just over 10 weeks now. Being that we weren't planning for this baby and have a (almost) 3 year old and a 15 month old, I was somewhat upset at first. But, babies have a way of endearing themselves to you, long before they are born. Quite soon, both Ben and I were excited about the idea of another child, perhaps a boy this time.

However, I had a dr's appt on Monday and because I wasn't sure of my dates, they did an ultrasound...and it doesn't look good. It looks like another blighted ovum...just like our first pregnancy. Many of you who read this have been down that road before (some more than others and my heart goes out to you). My blood tests have looked good and I have a repeat ultrasound on Monday (which just happens to be Savannah's birthday). I am not going to get my hopes up, because then it will hurt even more. Letting go is the hardest part...

What is UP with sizes?

As I was digging through my closet this morning trying to decide what to wear, I realized that I have 3 different sizes of clothing in my closet...and they ALL fit me. So, obviously, it would be nice if they made sizes universal, although I have also realized that I like some manufacturers better because of things. At the Gap, I wear a size 6, so they are definitely a well-liked company. Come on ladies, what mother of 2 doesn't like to still wear a 6. Smart thinking by the Gap, because I will spend more money. However, at Express, I wear a size 10...not as good. So, considering how silly we women are...who do you think will get more money from me!?! Hmmm...
